You are in: development / php development / state of php after symfony live 2010

PHP gossip time!

So here we are: this is a post I was thinking about since... well... since the Symfony live has ended.

There were lots of rumors after this great conference ( I missed it, not next year Wink ), so this is probably the most funny ( and girlie Tongue out ) moment of blogging: reporting great news.

PhpBB goes Symfony 2?

Well, this topic explains the trend among PhpBB developers: to think about a migration to the Symfony framework as codebase for their application.

And there's also a little picture of a simple board ( with 0 functionality ) built with Symfony.

Symfony 2 goes PHPUnit

I really appreciate when developers take care about not re-inventing the wheel, or admit that other software can improve theirs.

Fabien Potencier is one of those: we knew from him that Symfony 2 will integrate PHPUnit, not Lime, for unit-testing.

Another example of how Symfony is growing ( mentally overall Wink, the software is already great ) is the fact that it will incorporate some of ZF features, such as the Zend logger.

Stop the battle

Since I started using PHP frameworks I've noticed that lot of people was blaming other communities because "We can do this, you not" and the replies were "but we can do that, you not".

Bullshit.

After the Symfony live, 2 great programmers, Potencier and O'Phinney, demonstrated that the PHP world is ready to integrate its kick-ass applications with no need to declare your own software better than other stuff.

This trend will make the PHP an enterprise-driven community ( J? Smile ). Keep this way.

Mmm...well... this topic is mainly talking about symfony rumors...thought it would take a different way...
